After an installation has been de-energized, locked, and the power has been detected, a label or tag must be placed indicating that the installation may not be switched on.

• When working on systems, the system must be made safe. In the Lockout, Tagout, and Tryout (LoToTo) process, we talk about "de-energizing," as we know several forms of energy besides electrical energy, such as pressure, steam, and kinetic energy.
• It's important to first determine the type of energy that needs to be disconnected. This will then need to be locked out (Lock Out) and tagged (Tag Out). It's also important to check whether the energy is actually gone (Try Out), paying attention to any residual energy.
• The label is part of the 'Lockout, Tagout, Try out' procedure.
